About Me
Thanks for visiting my web site! It’s a place for me to share a bit about myself and discuss the great changes in our lives because of the Internet.
The short version of my professional background:
Veteran online and mobile media executive with an established entrepreneurial track record of business results including raising capital, building a business, and M&A transactions. A unique combination of business, product, and technical expertise.
The long version of my professional background:
I started my career working for a billion dollar manufacturing company in product/brand marketing after graduating from college. Within six years (mid/late 1990’s,) I took a job working in product management at Prodigy.com. That experienced opened my eyes to the potential of the Internet. Fast forward some years later, after finishing business school at night, I began working with publishers (WSJ, NYTimes, Time Warner, United Media, etc.) helping them to migrate their content online and create compelling business models. A great experience working with 20+ tier one publishers at the beginning of their digital evolutions. Four years later, I took a job running a sizable digital subscription business for Rodale Interactive (Menshealth.com, runnersworld.com, prevention.com, southbeachdiet.com, absdiet.com, etc.) I had some great successes with the team at Rodale, yet decided it was time to listen to my heart and become an entrepreneur. In 2004, a colleague and I left Rodale, raised $1MM in a capital commitment, and launched Red Jam Media. We worked with media companies (Rodale, Meredith Interactive, etc.) and Consumer product Companies (Jarden, etc.) to further their digital efforts. Additionally, we sub-licensed rights to offline brands and created revenue-generating online and mobile destinations. Our first brand was YoungerNextYear.com, a Workman Publishing NYTimes best selling book series. Two years later, Red Jam Media was acquired by ThirdAge, Inc. and my partner and I signed-up to run the business for two-plus years. We raised some capital for ThirdAge, rebuilt the entire front and back-end of the business in Drupal, tripled traffic, and grew revenue by 256%. We had some fun there.
Given the exciting evolutionary changes happening in the digital media market, my business partner and I decided in March 2009 it was time to once again work with media companies who were rethinking their digital strategies. The old media models were no longer relevant given the changing media consumption habits. Simultaneously, with open source and cloud computing digital start-up costs were rather low as we had a few digital concepts and wanted to bring to market.
We then birthed Interactive Moxie. http://interactivemoxie.com
Interactive Moxie is a digital strategy and incubation company. We work with media companies to make sense of the evolving digital landscape and surface the most viable strategic options. Given our decades of experience on the front-line growing and monetizing digital offerings, we help our partners to build scalable digital businesses. This can include research and strategy, product development, audience development, and revenue generation. We are not just about strategy decks. Our focus is on developing actionable, game changing strategies, overseeing their implementation and being held accountable for results.

An evening trip around the web led me here. Good luck with the new venture. Hope all is well with you and your family! I am turning 40 next month! I still remember the fun we had on Roxen Rd. like it was yesterday.
